The ASRWC much loved trail series.. FOUR CORNERS!

Come discover what each of Alice's corners have to offer. Run the north, south, east and west in a fun new series with four legs to be run between Friday evening and Sunday morning.

Four Corners 2024 - Leg 1 - Northside

Friday 14th June, race briefing 6:05pm 6:15 pm race start

Head torch required.

This one was worth waiting for, David Holmes has managed to bring us a great start to Four Corners Northside trail AGAIN.

Before sharing the more adventurous trails, we wanted to verify the trail and access personally, especially after that rain!! Sorry for the delay.

This one will be the faster trail of the four. With only 54m of elevation and a speedy last 2km, it should lead to an exciting finish. It’s always nice to discover trails you’ve never run before when you’ve run most of them!! This looks like a gem.

Starting from Wigley Gorge, we have some instructions how to get there, we will also have some markers on the night… and FYI you can get a 2WD car there fine (Dave tested with his Corolla 🙂 ).

1. Turn right off Stuart Hwy, just past Geoff Moss bridge

2. Turn right at the post to Wigley Waterhole

3. Take a slight left

4. Turn right to follow the sign so Wigley Waterhole

5. Turn right to follow the sign to Wigley Gorge

6. Follow the road through to the end.

Here is the course map, this year we are going to use Strava: https://strava.app.link/ORBwambPfKb it is mandatory to participate with the course map loaded onto your phone. The trail will also be fully marked and there will be course sweeps. If you require a GPX file to load into your mapping app (like Guru Maps) they can be found here

Four Corners 2024 - Leg 2 - Southside

Saturday 15th June 6:45 am race briefing, 7:00 am race start

Rollercoaster is back! And to change it up, it’s a figure of 8 loop this iconic Southside trail will be spectacular for a sunrise run. Hansie checked the trail this week for us. There are a few puddles, but it should be passable without getting wet feet :)

This one has some decent climbs with some technical parts, but it’s worth it for those desert views.

The startline is across the railway tracks behind the Road Transport Hall of Fame.

Four Corners 2024 - Leg 3 - Westside

Saturday, 15th June - 5:35pm Compulsory Race Briefing, 5.45pm Race Start

https://www.asrwc.com.au/events/240144

This one you’ll need a head torch!!

The Westside queen, Simone mapped out this Mulga Bill course for us!! Starting from the scout hall carpark, you’ll make your way up the hill onto some single track to link up. Heading up the left-hand side of Atetherre, you’ll head left onto Nturrerte, and finally, you’ll have earned the fun downhill run down Mulga Bill!! You’ll eventually link back up with Atetherre and the Lovegrove trailhead back to the scout hall car park. The views of Alice along this trail will be phenomenal; expect lots of photo breaks 🙂

Four Corners 2024 - Leg 4 - Eastside

Sunday, 16th June - 7:45am Compulsory Race Briefing, 8am Race Start
https://www.asrwc.com.au/events/240144

This Eastside classic is a brilliant way to end Four Corners 2024!! The Red Centre Wringer CCW Loop!!

The start/finish line is by the old gum near the riverbed crossing at the Telegraph Station, across the riverbed to the eastside trail by Spencer Hill. Enjoy this flat because it’s going to get a bit more technical soon!! The route will veer to the left, linking up with the Stuart trail; there is a long medium climb here with some rocky parts on a beautiful Tele single track. Continue along Stuart and at the next intersection veer right onto Arrwe, at three ways continue alone Arrwe. Don’t forget to take it all in along this beautiful trail!! At the intersection with Wigglys, continue left on Arrwe to the 2 river crossings. There’s currently some water around; who knows what will be left there come Sunday!! Again, veer left to continue on Arrwe and make your way back to the Telegraph Station. There is 65m of elevation, sand, rocks, single track, some fire trail, and so much in between.

The reward for this will be ULTIMATE bragging rights and utter satisfaction ;) So rally your fellow neighbour and represent your turf with pride!!

Volunteers:

SWEEPS - We will be needing sweeps for each event. A sweep follows the competitors, always keeping behind them. Sweeps ensure no one is left behind, pick up any rubbish that may have been dropped unnoticed and collect the trail markers. A sweep can hike behind participants or time their start so they can get some running in themselves. A sweep will be in contact with the race director. The great thing about being a sweep is that you can do the course for free! If this sounds like you, please let us know asrwc1@gmail.com

REGO/START LINE HELP and pack up - We would love some help to get everyone registered and checked in before the event starts. You can take on this role and participate in the event. If you are able to arrive an hour before the event, that would be perfect. Again to stay back afterwards, please let us know asrwc1@gmail.com or register via the event registration page

Our Race Director can be contacted during the event on 0497 599 275 and an hour prior and after if required
