Alice Springs Running Festival
Event information
The Alice Springs Running Festival has returned for 2025 - https://alicespringsrunningfestival.com.au/
Experience the thrill of road running in the Red Centre. With three key events: the 10km run and walk, the Half-Marathon Run and walk, and the Marathon, there's a distance for everyone.
The festival celebrates the beautiful Alice Springs landscapes, running and walking and our community!
Marathon
Starting from the impressive Standley Chasm - Angkerle Atwatye and down the Standley Chasm road through the meandering bushland towards Larapinta drive, you'll first head westward for a small out-and-back. Then it's full steam ahead, heading back east to Simpsons Gap, the finish line of this incredible marathon. You'll get incredible views of the ranges and the stunning bushland of the Tjoritja / West MacDonnell National Park.
Australian Athletics recommends participant running the marathon distance should be 18 and above.
Half Marathon Run & Walk
The Half Marathon Run and Walk starts on Illparpa Road near the railway tracks. This excellent road follows the spectacular ranges, and you'll get glimpses of the Claypans. Stunning bushland is throughout, and you'll come through Honey Moon Gap. At this point, you'll know you're on the tail end, and it will be full steam ahead down Darken Drive to Simpsons Gap. The finish line awaits, which will be a happy sight with an Alice Springs Running Festival feel.
Australian Athletics recommends participant running the half marathon distance should be 16 and above.
10km Run & Walk
Along Bullen Road, before Honey Moon Gap, the 10km Run and Walk will set off. The extraordinary dry River bed that runs through the Honey Moon Gap will be hard not to stop for photos, but we're betting this will be one speedy race!! Then it's down Darken Drive, where Simpson's Gap will start peaking out amongst the iconic bushland of Tjoritja / West MacDonnell National Park. There will be a festival feel, and the finish line will await you as you finish this spectacular race.
Australian Athletics recommends participant running the marathon distance should be 12 and above.
