We hit the ground running in February; we've had a hectic (but fun) month!
Welcome Back Mparntwe was a brilliant success. 165 people registered to run, walk, or volunteer on the day. The event has become an excellent way to launch our running and walking year, and we again enjoyed putting it on immensely.
West Macs Monster has sold out in the 25km, 65km, and 128 km events, and from the last update, just 10 spots remained in the 231km. This is a massive success for the West Macs Monster Sub-Commitee; congratulations to Simon and his team! The callout for Vollie Monsters has begun, too. We can't begin to tell you how rewarding it is to volunteer at this event (and our events, too, of course).
And with more West Macs Monster news, Marc Woods is a finalist for 2024 Sportsperson of the Year and Masters Sportsperson of the Year!! His iconic WMM 231km win last year was inspiring, to say the least. Congratulations, Marc, and good luck!
The Training on Trails series kicked off in February, starting at Simpsons Gap, up Hat Hill and back!! Over the past few weeks, we've progressed to Euro Ridge. It's only going to get better from here :) We noticed, too, that people really appreciate club social runs.. watch this space in the future, and we'll see what else we can jam into the calendar :)
We've got some fantastic events coming up, some Running Festival News (OOO, I'm so excited about this!!), and our member and performance of the month, ASRWC, was spotted in the newspaper twice. WMM had a huge spread celebrating their Australia Day Event Award. We have some DSF and Friends of the Larapinta news shout-outs, too.
See you all around soon!
Thanks
Katie
The past week has seen some big news head our way, which has meant some course changes that could be for the better. The Marathon is likely to start at Standley Chasm and finish at Simpsons Gap!! The Half Marathon will likely start on Illparpa Road and finish at Simpsons Gap again. Finally, the 10k will start before Honey Moon Gap and finish at Simpsons Gap!! With a few more details to nail down, we'd like to get tickets on sale in the first 2 weeks of March. We'll, of course, let all of you know first :)

Have you ever wanted to get on the trails and run or walk under the moonlight? Well, we know we do, so we scoured the calendar for every Friday that a full moon lands on, and here we are with the first one!!
Join us for a run/walk on the Arrwe trail at the Telegraph station (with a stop by Trig Hill) to enjoy this stunning view. We meet at the Telegraph Station Reserve gate at 6:50 pm for a 7 pm start. The route is 7km return and if you'd like to just come out to Trg Hill, it's 3km return.
A head torch is mandatory, and we recommend taking some water and bringing a snake bite bandage. Your safety is your own responsibility.

Behind the scenes of Monster endurance feats on the trail is a family of Red Shirt Monsters that make this event so freaking special and professionally run.
There are plenty of roles available (150ish) in flexible timeslots. Vollies receive a free red shirt (as pictured) as well as some goodies from Gold event sponsors Intersport and Alice Springs Brewing Company. Even better than that is the memories and front seat interaction with all the runners in real time. We can't wait!
As a volunteer-driven, local club-run event, we need your support to continue putting on the friendliest trail running festival!

Have a look and see how you'd like to be involved this year.
The January/February Member of the Month is..... Sarah Keally!!!

Sarah truly embodies fun, fitness and friendship. She is endlessly generous with her time volunteering, participates in most events, and is amazing at bouncing ideas off. We truly appreciate all that she has done for the club over the years especially recently being a superstar sweep at our season launch event.
We look forward to cheering you on again soon, and helping you kick your 2025 running goals!!
Thank you so very much Sarah and congratulations!!
The February performance of the month is...
Katie Gamble at Welcome Back Mpartnwe!! (and also a big mention of her spectacular LD Summer Sunday Series win as well!!)
Katie has kicked HUGE goals in 2024, and it is culminating in some fantastic running. She came first overall with a time of 20:00.1 at Welcome Back Mparntwe.
We can't wait to see what's ahead for her 2025 running season. Congratulations Katie!!
Thanks, everyone! I know I know.... we always have so much to say :)
Thanks
