Guru Maps How-To
Published Tue 11 Mar 2025
It’s time to use Guru Maps!! If you haven’t already, download the app on your phone.
If you're unfamiliar, I’ve put together an essential guide.
I have a shared folder full of all the club's routes, this includes Training on Trails and Full Moon Adventures - https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1-n9mq5Bch84gRLld_8jQUTNSSYXRsR1c?usp=sharing
Now, you can also access Strava from your phone's browser. Head to the route, this is an example of a run we have coming up https://www.strava.com/routes/3326058086416497078 and download the GPX file. In the example Chrome is used , so please adapt the instructions for your browser..
Now you need to download the file to your files from Google Drava or Strava
You’ll see a prompt to similar to this, ‘open in’, select this.
This is where you select Guru Maps if listed or ‘More’. Scroll all the way down until you see the Guru Maps icon.
Congratulations, you’ve added a route to Guru Maps!!
You can change what folder you want the route to be stored, and please have a play around and become familiar. They will ask you to show the route in your phone at the WMM check in, it's great to know beforehand.
You can edit the the folder location here to move it somewhere more logical, as you can see this one was not in an easy to find folder.
To ‘use the route’, select the wiggly line with the arrow (second icon from the right).
Hit the play button.. You are now successfully ‘following a route’ in Guru maps and can feel confident in knowing your way around a route.. And if you get off course you'll easily find your way back!!
